To avoid falling into deceptive practices, the study suggests integrating mining activities in a way that respects ecosystems and communities, reduces emissions, and prevents social exclusion. True sustainability requires joint policies that ensure the fair redistribution of revenues and the rehabilitation of mining areas, ensuring that development does not become a form of image-washing that conceals long-term environmental or social damage.
