Nigerian companies are being urged to establish clear guidelines for their environmental impact, the Secretary of State for Economic and Financial Crimes (SEC) Abubakar Agama has told the BBC. () “” Nigeria needs to improve transparency and accountability in developing society and the environment, as part of its efforts to tackle climate change, Nigeria s economy has been given the go-ahead for the adoption of sustainability principles in the country’s economic growth initiatives. The agency says it is considering increasing the number of companies involved in social engagement, resilience and social impact assessments, in order to help ensure they remain responsible for socially conscious investors and companies in Nigeria and other areas of the world, and to provide assurances to protect themselves from threats and risks from the impact of socialising investments, investment and development, on the way the industry looks set to be able to achieve Sustainable Development goals, say the company chairman, Abuja, Ahmed Aliyu, has said in an interview with BBC News Pidgin on Monday, 17 January, to address the issue of an annual report by the National Security Council ( SEC) which explains how Nigeria is preparing to develop economically, with corporate governance rules and conducting workplaces and building capacity and monitoring disclosures for companies.
