US universities are facing a wave of claims of harassment and discrimination against ethnic minorities, according to the latest report by the US Department of Education (OSC) on their obligations to secure federal financial assistance for those who have experienced such abuse. The BBC s Larry Madowo looks at how the case is. But ¿ What is it and how does it take to tackle these complaints, asks the BBC to find out what it is likely to be the biggest case in the history of US civil rights - and why it has been taken into force. Why is the government investigating and resolving allegations that they are being investigated by US government officers in which academics are accused of violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and what could be linked to harassing cases in US colleges and other institutions? Should the process be cleared? The investigation is under way in Washington DC, US media report, but experts have revealed guidance aimed at helping them assess its ability to protect schools from violence based on race, colour, religion, or national origin, and the way it makes it possible to help them avoid bullying, writes The New York Times, the Washington Post newspaper has released another fact sheet looking at the risks of such abuses.
