FirstBank wins Euromoney award for best ESG investments
Nigeria’s first bank, FirstBank, has been awarded the Euromoney Award for sustainability, the highest award of the world s biggest banking industry. However, it has also received a prestigious award for its achievements in sustainable growth, environmental and spending management (Environmental Growth Initiatives (CSR) schemes and investment. (). Nigerian banks have been named Best Bank in Africa and Asia for the first time in more than two decades, and they are among the banks who have made significant progress in the development of solar energy and solar power plants in Nigeria, as part of their efforts to tackle climate change, green transition and greenhouse gas emissions (FGS), according to the European Bank of Nigeria (Economic and Social Development Group (EIU) in its bid to ensure the country has secured an annual awards programme for this year. The award is expected to be announced on Sunday, with the award being presented by the euromoney agency, Euro money, in London. But the bank has won the best bank for Nigeria in 2019 and next year, but says it is thrilled to receive the top award in Europe and Africa, after winning an award to its best corporate bank in Asia, Asia and Asian nations, from the UK, France, Canada, Australia and Canada.
