DANX begins Duo trailer operations in emissions reduction boost

DANX, a time-critical logistics specialist, has started using Duo trailers in its Swedish operations following a change in Swedish legislation that allows HGVs with two or three trailers up to 34.5 meters in length to operate on approximately 590 kilometers of road. The company anticipates that the use of Duo trailers will reduce emissions by up to 7% and enhance operational efficiency. Martin Grauers, Managing Director of Sweden, expressed that this change in law is beneficial for both DANX s customers and its own environmental goals. DANX operates between 140 to 150 heavy trucks and tractor-trailers daily in Sweden, and reducing its carbon footprint aligns with its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) ambitions. The Swedish Transport Administration has established the E-service to accommodate the new sized vehicles, and companies must apply to add additional roads to the 34.5 m vehicle road network. In addition to Duo trailers, DANX is also investing in biodiesel or biogas for linehauls and electric vehicles for last-mile distribution in urban areas, which will provide further benefits to customers and the public. Duo trailers have been tested in Europe since 2014, with operations already underway in Spain. In Australia, Duo trailers are common, with some cases featuring three trailers stretching up to 53.5 meters in length.
