Nicholas Ioannis Dimtsas, Deputy Managing Director of Dimand, highlighted the company s commitment to sustainable bioclimatic buildings during his speech at the 7th Conference of Infrastructure and Transport (ITC 2024) held at the Athens Concert Hall. Since 2009, Dimand has adopted a strategy to invest in LEED-certified bioclimatic buildings, aiming for at least a Gold grade. The company s approach to green building design focuses on recyclable materials, light orientation, and reduced energy consumption. In recent years, investors and real estate users have shifted their preferences towards bioclimatic properties, as they are now considered essential components of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) policies. Dimtsas emphasized that the New Judicial Palace of Piraeus, set to be delivered in summer 2026, will adhere to high sustainability standards, not only for the building itself but also for the public area, creating a positive social impact in the Piraeus region. Part of the development will be donated to the Municipality of Piraeus to establish a park, which will contribute to the revitalization of the area and strengthen its microeconomics. Dimtsas stressed that urban regeneration is about bringing life back to abandoned and degraded areas. Regarding financing for urban regeneration projects, Dimtsas mentioned that the Recovery Fund and the European Modernization and Regeneration Development (EMRD) will continue to invest in such initiatives. The company s actions are not isolated, as they serve as a catalyst for other bodies to contribute to the regeneration process. In summary, Dimtsas emphasized Dimand s commitment to sustainable bioclimatic buildings, highlighting the company s strategy, the New Judicial Palace of Piraeus project, and the importance of urban regeneration. The company s approach aligns with ESG policies and is supported by the Recovery Fund and EMRD for continued investment in urban regeneration projects.
