F - list : Ogilvy and Edelman among those with most contracts with fossil - fuel clients | News

The F-List, published by campaign group Clean Creatives, details the ad and PR industry s work with fossil fuel clients for the fourth consecutive year. The 2023-2024 list shows 1,010 fossil fuel contracts held by 590 agencies, with 692 new contracts and 318 continuations from the previous year. WPP holds the most contracts (79), followed by Ogilvy (15) and Burson (12). Despite WPP s sustainability policy, their client list includes lobbying firms like OGCI and API. Stagwell has the fewest fossil fuel contracts (7), while Edelman has the most (3 new contracts with Chevron, Sasol, and ConocoPhillips). The Asia-Pacific region has 219 contracts, with Australia leading in the number of contracts. Shell is the company with the most contracts (54), followed by BP (40), TotalEnergies (36), ExxonMobil (33), and Chevron (31). The F-List also includes public affairs firms, production agencies, retail marketing agencies, recruitment agencies, animation studios, and OOH agencies. The F-List s findings have led to consequences for agencies, such as Havas Media losing its B Corp certification. Over 1,200 agencies have signed the Clean Creatives pledge to refuse contracts from fossil fuel organizations. Despite the industry s shift towards clean energy investment, major holding companies are still tied to fossil fuel clients, hindering climate action. Clean Creatives criticizes the industry for not fully embracing its potential role in supporting climate action.
