Thrust Carbon Joins IATA CO2 Connect Network

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has partnered with Thrust Carbon, a sustainability intelligence platform provider, to expand its IATA CO2 Connect emissions calculations distribution network. This collaboration, announced during IATA s World Sustainability Symposium, will begin in October 2024. The corporate travel sector requires accurate and comparable CO2 emissions calculations for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) monitoring and reporting. By collaborating with Thrust Carbon, IATA aims to meet this need by using actual operational data from a growing community of airlines. IATA CO2 Connect emissions calculations are based on a globally accepted standardized methodology that utilizes airline operational (fuel burn) data. These calculations will be processed by Thrust Carbon according to their individual clients needs, mainly the corporate travel sector. The clients will incorporate these calculations into the flight selection process and use them for ESG monitoring and reporting. As aviation s main trade association, IATA has a long-standing tradition in setting industry standards. This collaboration enables corporate customers to have easier and wider access to the CO2 Connect methodology, including their data flowing in and out of every leading travel management company and expense platform. This initiative promotes consistency and accuracy in planning carrier and route changes to support sustainability efforts.
