Drones to drive new job opportunities , reduce foreign worker dependence , says HR Ministry official

The Human Resources Ministry (Kesuma) deputy secretary-general (operations) Sutekno Ahmad Belon emphasized the positive impact of drone technology on job creation and reducing reliance on foreign workers during the launch of the Manpower Department (JTM)’s Drone Technology Hub, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) programme in Miri. With an estimated 20,000 drones projected to be used commercially across the country, Sutekno highlighted the significant changes and impacts drones bring to organizations. The event also saw the signing of a smart partnership agreement between ILP Miri and Jhexa Sdn Bhd. Sutekno stressed the importance of talent development in high-impact technology sectors like drone technology to meet current and future industry needs. He mentioned that the training provided at JTM’s training institute (ILJTM) focuses on developing students abilities to adapt to advanced technology rather than merely producing graduates who become users of existing technology. The ESG programme aims to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and serves as a positive example within Kesuma. The programme also featured a drone competition and exhibitions at the Intrim Hall of ILP Miri. Notable attendees included JTM director-general Rospiagos Taha, JTM deputy director-general Kamaruzaman Md Ali, Adtec Bintulu director ILJTM East Region chairman Syahrull Nizam Perdan, ILP director Mustal Makmud, and Khexa Sdn Bhd executive director Hendra John. Overall, Sutekno and other officials at the event emphasized the importance of drone technology in creating new job opportunities, reducing dependence on foreign workers, and achieving the SDGs. The partnership between ILP Miri and Jhexa Sdn Bhd aims to expand related programs and initiatives, while the training institute focuses on developing students abilities to adapt to advanced technology.
