Port of Tanjung Pelepas hit new milestone in handling 1 . 08 mln TEUs in a single month

The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), a joint venture between MMC Group from Malaysia and APM Terminals from the Netherlands, has set a new record by handling 1.08 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in a single month without any congestion. This achievement solidifies PTP s status as Malaysia s busiest and largest transshipment hub. Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, the chairman of PTP, highlighted that this record was made possible by the dedication and commitment of everyone involved, particularly through the application of advanced technological strategies and a focus on integrated customer services. PTP s chief executive officer, Mark Hardiman, emphasized the port s continuous evaluation and improvement of its strategic direction and initiatives to ensure sustainable growth. The port s focus on safety and customer-centricity has been crucial in maintaining Malaysia s competitive edge in the global market. PTP s strategic approach to enhancing efficiency and optimizing operations, with a strong emphasis on safety, has been supported by significant investments in port asset upgrades and infrastructure work. These efforts are aligned with the port s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) agenda, safety policies, and digitalization strategy roadmap. In 2022, PTP made history as the first container terminal in Malaysia to surpass 1 million TEUs in a month, achieving a record of 1.002 million TEUs at that time. This milestone further demonstrates PTP s commitment to excellence and its role in supporting the global supply chain. Source: Bernama
