Lotte Group steps up social initiatives for regional communities

Lotte Group is intensifying its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to support marginalized groups and protect the environment. The company has been operating child care centers nationwide since 2017, with 87 facilities established to date. These centers provide young children with diverse cultural experiences and digital education, with plans to open more in major metropolitan areas in Daegu, Gwangju, and Daejeon. In addition to child care centers, Lotte has also focused on environmental protection by opening 28 eco-friendly playgrounds between 2017 and 2023. The company plans to establish two more indoor playgrounds in Uijeongbu and Ulsan in 2024. Lotte Group has also launched the Value Creators in Universities program, partnering with social organizations to address various social issues. In February, Lotte Chilsung Beverage conducted upcycling education for its staff, who created women s products and donated them to vulnerable communities. Volunteers also participated in kiosk education for older adults and picture book making for children from multicultural families. The company has also engaged in beach cleaning activities in Busan, collaborating with environmental organizations. Lotte Group has supported soldiers by donating 50 million won to Army members and establishing 70 book cafes for Army battalions across South Chungcheong Province. The book cafes feature reading areas and relaxation zones for soldiers to unwind. Overall, Lotte Group is committed to expanding its CSR initiatives to support marginalized groups and protect the environment, demonstrating its dedication to environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) management principles.
