Empresas en Perú avanzan en sostenibilidad, pero 77% teme que el sector pierda credibilidad

Peruvian businesses are actively integrating sustainability into their core strategies, yet a significant credibility gap persists between their intentions and tangible outcomes. This disconnect stems from a failure to fully operationalize sustainability across all organizational areas, resulting in limited alignment and insufficient community engagement. Consequently, public trust remains low, as citizens do not perceive these efforts as authentic or impactful enough to warrant confidence in the private sector. The primary challenge lies in the inability to measure the real social and environmental impact of these initiatives. Many companies focus heavily on internal operational efficiency, such as carbon reduction, while neglecting rigorous evaluation of their broader societal contributions. Without clear metrics or systematic assessments, firms struggle to demonstrate concrete returns, leaving their sustainability claims largely unverified and their strategies fragmented rather than holistic. This lack of objective data creates a fertile ground for greenwashing, a risk widely acknowledged by executives who fear their peers may be misleading the public. When organizations report activities without evaluating their actual contribution, they undermine the integrity of the entire ecosystem. This study highlights that authentic sustainability requires more than communication; it demands robust impact measurement to distinguish genuine progress from mere image-building, ultimately restoring public trust.
